Start with your real workload
List typical and peak session sizes, RAW requirements, internet availability, delivery software, collaborators, and the number of shoots you process. A browser demo can be useful for occasional review; a local desktop workflow may matter more for large RAW-heavy jobs or limited connectivity.
Do not extrapolate from a vendor’s fastest example. Use your own difficult session: mixed light, bursts, closed eyes, intentional motion, similar expressions, and must-deliver moments.
Compare total workflow cost
Verify current pricing on the official checkout or pricing page. Include subscription period, image or project limits, export restrictions, storage or retention, conversion time, and the cost of moving selections into your editor.

Check privacy, formats, and reversibility

A useful culler should let you inspect and override selections, preserve originals, and export enough information to continue elsewhere. Avoid workflows that make an automated rejection irreversible.
Demand evidence for the claims that matter
Treat speed and accuracy percentages as vendor claims until the method, dataset, and relevance to your work are clear. Look for official documentation, current product behavior, and a trial that lets you audit both selected and rejected frames.
